Saturday Q and A - Mike Licona | The Resurrection ... (Dig and Delve 2023)
The Resurrection: The Worldview Defining Event You May Be Underestimating
Dr. Mike Licona, one of the world’s foremost scholars on the historical truthfulness and trustworthiness of the resurrection of Jesus. If true, the resurrection of Jesus changes everything! Your life, your understanding of the world, where history is going, and more!
-----------------------------------------------------
We recognize that all people have questions, but very few spaces exist to have open, honest, and respectful discourse around the deepest questions humans ask.
Join us for DIG & DELVE!
What is DIG & DELVE?
DIG & DELVE is an annual conference in Ottawa that is all about giving people a safe space to engage in discussion and explore deep issues that humans have been wrestling with for a long time.
One popular worldview promoted in our media is that it is foolish to believe in God. Influential writers disparage those interested in considering the relevance of faith to life.
Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence. - Richard Dawkins
At DIG & DELVE we hope to provide an open, honest and respectful environment where people can explore reasons why faith makes sense and why it is meaningful to give consideration to the life and teaching of Jesus. We hope to encourage curiosity and a healthy critical inquisitiveness. People coming from a spectrum of world-views, Christian and otherwise, are welcome.
At DIG & DELVE, we gather talented experts in their fields to come and share their opinions about deep issues human wrestle with and together we discuss some of the latest research around these questions.
Expect to be challenged. Join us at DIG & DELVE.

Some of Keith Green’s now have a podcast called “Feet of Clay: Confessions of the Cult Sisters”. They present a lot of evidence that shows how harmful and untrue Christianity is and how Keith Green benefited from it.

I you should know there's no such thing as Christian the Bible doesn't teach it p Jesus called us to be disciples Christian is mentioned three times in the Bible as an insult to the disciples it's a mockery people p Jesus said at the last days many will be deceived Christianity is that deception don't listen to this guy

@@clydeholiday5907 how are Christians supposed to identify themselves? Hand signals? Why are you so opposed to the term Christian? I think you ought to read the Bible. Where is Christian mentioned 3 times in the Bible as an insult?

The Christian home is in Rome, not Jerusalem. If there were any remembrance of Jesus Christ, The Romans would have obliterated it, and you would hear the mocking of a son of a Jewish God

Let's suppose there was a man two thousand years ago who was born of a virgin, who had profound intelligence that amazed anyone who talked to him, who fell foul of both Jewish and Roman authorities, who was crucified, who came back to life 3 days later and who 40 days after that flew up into space. The best explanation of those extraordinary facts would be that Jesus was an alien implanted on Earth to try to raise the consciousness of humanity. He tried to teach people using the cultural references that they understand which would be their local religion. His 'resurrection' was him being restored using highly advance unknown Alien technology. He then flies into space to go back to his alien brethren. His teachings than get mangled and misunderstood and people make a religion out of him. Now that sounds implausible and outlandish but it's actually a better explanation than Jesus was God because no matter how infeasible the Alien hypothesis is, it's within the bounds of possibility. No matter how insane it sounds it's a better hypothesis than the idea the universe was made with a plan by an invisible magic mind that lives outside of space and time, but the plan went wrong in a way this infinitely wise mind couldn't foresee, so the magic mind came to Earth as its own son to be tortured to death so humans don't have to go to the cosmic prison that the magic mind invented.

So so good!! People don’t realize that people are so rigid in their naturalism beliefs, even as they have been smuggled into Christianity, they cannot grasp the miraculous of God, His creation, and His plan for our redemption. And because they don’t believe in Satan as an individual with an agenda for separating man from God, they cannot take hold of the miracle of salvation!! It’s NOT a fairytale!! Christianity flourishes when and where a people believe in the supernatural. We must witness with that revelation!!

  • @dagwould
    @dagwould 2 місяці тому

Modern science proceeds not on the basis of methodological naturalism, but on the basis of methodological Christian theism! Naturalism by itself, whether metaphysical or 'merely' methodological has not produced modern science. In fact, it has produced neither systematic inquiry into the created cosmos, nor ceaseless curiosity. For this old world view, what is simply is! But for Christian theism. Paganism is a similar dead hand. What is is the product of the rainbow serpent. End of discussion. For panentheists, what is is god, and no inquiry is possible. If the god is capricious, as is the Muslim god, no science is again possible. What Christian theism assures us of, and this is demonstrated in the first chapters of Genesis, is a material creation that is causally rational, that is objectively there, that is propositionally explicable, and created for our superintendence/care/stewardship and operation. It invites curious exploration, and demonstrates the principle in Adam naming the animals brought to him: he observed, analyzed, classified and categorized. It was up to him. All God did was bring his subjects to him. The materialist detractors think that Christian theism stifles inquiry. Not so. The record is that materialism does so. The great example is the rapidly diminishing number of 'vestigial' organs. We will soon be at zero in that count. The fiction of vestigial organs stifled inquiry and led to countless unnecessary, dangerous and sometimes fatal surgical operations. But, confident of a cosmos designed by one limitlessly wise and knowledgeable (see Prov. 3:19-20) we are confident to keep exploring, keep finding knowledge and reliably communicating it. Our curiosity will, we are sure, be endlessly repaid. There will be no 'do not enter' signs as we know the entire material cosmos is here for our habitation, occupation, use and enjoyment. The detractors confuse the creator God with the fake gods of paganism, with the occasionalist 'gods' of the Greek Olympus, or the stupid gods of thing and place. These prevent science. Nor does one who takes the cosmos as designed ever say...well, I don't know, God did it. No, we say. "This clearly presents a challenge to understanding, but it was made so as to be understandable by the creator, so let's get on, persevere, work hard, expose our ideas to criticism, let's learn how this thing works." The only problem arises where metaphysical naturalism enters the ring. It sets preconditions that result in imagined histories being used to guide the work of observation and analysis. These could well lead us astray, as NDE leads us astray and produces speculation but no knowledge.

I had come across this testimony in the summer of 2018. I was just back from a retreat in Italy where I got to visit Assissi. It wasn't a Christian retreat but new age. I was lost and struggling to find the way. In Assissi I was intrigued by the life os St Francis. Was searching videos about him and other saints on youtube and this came into my feed. I enjoyed listening to Dr. Lim's story being a Korean myself but never thought it could also be for me and continued my new age path. Eventually, in 2020 I lost everything and in the spring of 2021 I met Jesus, my everything. ♥

The christian church, with very few exceptions has nothing whatsoever to do with the Teachings of christ, which are actually very easy to separate from the metaphors & misunderstandings in the bible, & are a Clear Blueprint for creating Peace & Heaven on Earth ! 1. Don`t worship false idols - The word for god is unpronouncable, it is in fact ` ` . god is mysterious, unknowable, not an idol ! Other false idols are the cross & images of ` holy ` figures 2. ` ` is Love, Life, In All Things, We are all One with ` ` 3. The message is Oneness - Love & Equality ! 4. For that we must Defeat Selfishness, Greed, Inequality ( the ` devil ` ) 5. For Peace & Harmony on Earth we need to see the Oneness of all things : ) We can only work together with each other & all of nature and this earth we live on by choosing LOVE & EQUALITY ( ` ` )
